William L. Richards, 77, a resident of Ridgeview Elder care in Curwensville, and most recently of Grampian, passed away March 26, 2012 at the Nursing Center.
Born Dec. 8, 1934 in Clearfield, he was the son of Abe L. and Ruby (Winters) Richards. He had worked as a mechanic first for Dotts Motor Co. in Clearfield until 1963, then moved to Tuscon AZ and worked for B F Goodrich Co. He then moved back to Curwensville and owned and operated Richards Bar and Grill starting in 1977. He also had served in the Army National Guard for 10 years. He was a member of the Grampian Church of God.
He was a former member of Curwensville Noble Lodge # 480 F & A M, Curwensville L.O.O.M., Rescue Hose and Ladder Co. of Curwensville, Clearfield F.O.E., Curwensville VFW, Clearfield American Legion, and the Curwensville Merchants Association.
Surviving are five children: Abe L. Richards and wife Diane of Joseph City, AZ, Cindy Warren of Clearfield, William M. Richards and wife Violet M and Diana L. Richards both of Curwensville and Dean A. Richards and wife Valerie of Utahville. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his former wife the former Marjorie Aughenbaugh, 2 sisters Mary Hainsey and Shirley Fleck and 2 brothers Chester and Gilbert “Gib” Richards. He was the last member of his generations.
Private Memorial Services will be held at the home of his son Dean at the convenience of the family. There will be no public visitation.
