Pictured above are Joseph B. Bower, Jr., president & CEO of CNB Bank, presenting a $1,500 check to Amy Wilson, executive director of Mid-State Literacy Council. The donation by CNB Foundation, Inc. is to support educational programs provided by Mid-State Literacy Council in which Clearfield County residents have the opportunity to increase their reading, writing, math, and computer skills. Area adults work with trained volunteer tutors to learn more skills to accomplish both work and family goals. CNB’s support will provide training for new volunteer tutors to help 20 Clearfield area residents who have been waiting for the program. Mid-State Literacy Council is a not-for-profit organization supported by Clearfield Area United Way, local contributors, and the business community. Investments in literacy result in adults obtaining jobs and being able to read to their children. Mid-State Literacy Council needs support to continue to educate young adults and adults in our community. To contact the Mid-State Literacy Council, please call or email Amy Wilson at 814-238-1809 and awilson@mid-stateliteracycouncil.org or Justine Willett at 814-577-4977 and kecwil@verizon.net.
