PENFIELD – Lower Witmer Park will again host a fishing derby with a long tradition. Thirty eight years worth of tradition, to be exact.
The derby is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Age groups include the following: 1-5; 6-10; 11-15; 16 and over.
There will be prizes given for the first fish caught in the age groups 1-5 and 6-10. The event also features 11 tagged fish ($2 entry); one worth $100, two worth $50; one worth $20 and “Big Daddy Trout.” The tagged fish option runs out on May 19, 2012.
Some rules:
- In the event of a tie, the first fish caught wins
- Fish caught must be of legal length and in season
- Tagged fish run for one week only
- Bank fishing only; no boats
The derby limits run from they Hyde Bridge to the Moose Creek inlet to the Susquehanna River.
