Robert J. Fry, Sr, 88 of Madera, passed away March 19, 2012 at 11:27 p.m. Mt. Laurel Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield.
Bob was born on Dec. 24, 1923 at Sparks, OK, the son of the late Golden and Bonnie (Campbell) Fry Stewart.
He served in the U.S. Army as a PFC in WW II. He was employed as a carpenter with Penn Guard Construction building new homes and with W & E Corporation of State College building commercial buildings. He later operated the Amoco service station in Madera for a number of years.
On April 29, 1949 at the First Baptist Church, Butler, he married Jean L. (Campbell) Fry, who survives of Madera.
Bob is survived by a daughter and a son; Linda Myers and her husband Marvin of Madera and Robert J. Fry, Jr and his wife Donna of Houtzdale. Eight grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 6 step great grandchildren also survive.
Bob is survived by a sister, Lois Smith of Glen Hope.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his step father, James Stewart and three sisters, Wanda, Leona and Luella.
Bob and Jean enjoyed dancing, and were members of the Young at Heart Square Dance Group, and also danced with the Blair County Senior Citizens.
Friends will be received on March 22 from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. at the Kruise Funeral Home, Inc, Madera.
Funeral Services at held on March 22 at 11:00 a.m. in the Kruise Funeral Homes, Inc., Madera, with the Rev. Ernest E. Simmers, officiating.
