Penn State baseball announces 2012 game promotions

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — With the 2012 Penn State baseball home opener coming up next week, promotions for games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park have been announced for this season. Penn State has 22 home games in 2012, with the slate of contests kicking off next Wednesday with Pittsburgh in town.

Student season tickets have been on sale at the HUB this week and continue through Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. each day. Season tickets are just $20 and each student that makes the purchase will get a Penn State Baseball three-quarters sleeve t-shirt, tickets to 22 home games, a free hot dog and soda at Friday home games and two batting practice sessions with the team. As of Wednesday, student season ticket sales have already doubled last year’s total.

Season tickets for Adult General Admission start at just $63. For fans interested in the "In The Box" seats, those will start at $99. Youth General Admission tickets are the same cost as student season tickets, $20. Individual game tickets for Adult General Admission start at just $4 and just $2 for youth.

Penn State opens its 2012 home slate on Wednesday, March 21, as it hosts Pittsburgh. That game will be one of the seven "Dollar Dog Nights" of the season. Another feature for the season will be "Winning Weeknight Scratchoffs." The first 200 fans that show up to a weeknight game will receive a scratchoff ticket. Each ticket is a guaranteed winner of a Penn State Baseball prize.

Two days after their home opener, the Nittany Lions will host Indiana for a three-game series in its Big Ten opener. All fans in attendance that weekend will receive a free Penn State schedule magnet. Also, the Friday game of that series will be the first of five "Free Food Friday" games for all student season ticket holders.

Penn State will also have a great number of theme nights. On Wednesday, April 4, it will be MLB Cap Night out at the ballpark. Every Penn State student that wears a MLB cap will get free admission into the game. Penn State’s Wounded Warrior game will take place on April 14 against Michigan at 2:05 p.m. All fans in attendance at that game will get a pack of Penn State Baseball cards.

On April 18, Greek Night, fans attending the game will receive a wiffle bat/ball combo. PSU Spirit Day (4/28 against Ohio State) will feature a Penn State Baseball Snapback Hat giveaway.

On Mother’s Day (5/13) when the Nittany Lions play host to Illinois, fans in attendance will receive pink wristbands, the same ones the players will be wearing, in support of Breast Cancer awareness.

Other themes and promotions include an Easter Egg Hunt (4/7), Penn State Faculty/Staff Night (4/13), THON Day (4/15), Collegian Night (4/24) and 90’s Throwback Night (4/25).
