CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Robert Joseph Lutz, 25, of Sipes Lane, Clearfield. Lutz was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list Jan. 23.

On Dec. 28, 2011, Trooper Jared Wolff of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a criminal complaint, charging Lutz with simple assault and harassment.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Wolff states that on Dec. 11, 2011, the Pennsylvania State Police responded to a residence located on Walton Street in Philipsburg for the report of an alleged assault.  Upon arrival at the scene, the victim reported that Lutz had grabbed her by the throat, threw her to the sidewalk and kicked her in the face. Wolff observed deep red marks on the victim’s neck as well as marks on victim’s left cheek.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 18 at which time Lutz failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Shaw stated that on Feb. 3, Lutz voluntarily surrendered himself to authorities.
