CLARION – Clarion University is encouraging its students to enter an alcohol safety awareness contest created by the Social Norms Subcommittee of the PASSHE Statewide Coalition for the Prevention and Reduction of Underage and Binge Drinking. To participate, students must create a video or poster depicting how they have fun on the weekends while staying safe and avoiding binge drinking. There is a $200 cash prize for the winner from Clarion University.
“The intent is not to scare students about drinking, but to create positive messages that will get students to think differently and make positive decisions related to alcohol,” said Jim McGee, coordinator of health promotions at Clarion University. “Contestants are encouraged to be positive about alcohol safety and to use humor in their posters or videos, which may be used to promote alcohol safety on campus.”
Video options include a promotional video that does not exceed two minutes in length or a 30-second public service announcement. Posters must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi.
The winning project at Clarion University will be submitted to the PASSHE Media Contest Committee to determine the PASSHE finalist. The deadline for submissions is midnight, April 1.
