CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the fugitive as Tracy Mortimer, 31, of Brockway. Mortimer was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Feb. 21.

On April 27, 2011, Officer Michael Davidson of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Mortimer with criminal mischief.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Davidson states that on April 8, 2011, officers were dispatched to a residence on South Main Street in DuBois City for the report of criminal mischief to a motor vehicle. Upon arrival at the scene, Davidson observed large scratches on both sides of the vehicle and that the vehicle had two flat tires. A witness reported that she had observed Mortimer causing the damage to the vehicle. The damages were estimated at approximately $1,916.90.

A preliminary hearing was held on June 3, 2011 at which time all charges were held to court.

In a separate case, Officer Shawn Bloom of the DuBois City Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging Mortimer with theft by unlawful taking or disposition and receiving stolen property.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Bloom states that on Oct. 20, 2011, officers were dispatched to the DuBois Regional Medical Center for the report of a theft. Upon arrival at the scene, officers spoke with staff who relayed that Mortimer and another individual had attempted to unlawfully remove $259 worth of items from the hospital.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Nov. 18, 2011 at which time all charges were held for court. On Feb. 14, Mortimer failed to appear for plea and sentencing court and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Shaw stated that an anonymous tip to the DuBois City Police Department provided the location of Mortimer. On Feb. 22, officers from the DuBois City Police Department apprehended Mortimer, and she was taken into custody without incident. Mortimer is currently lodged in the Clearfield County Jail.

Shaw thanked the DuBois City Police Department and the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their hard work and assistance with this case.
