Goas tabbed EIVA Offensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Redshirt senior Edgardo Goas (San Juan, Puerto Rico) was named the EIVA Offensive Player of the Week, conference officials announced. This is the first conference honor of the season for Goas.

Goas guided the Nittany Lions to two victories against EIVA foes George Mason and Princeton over the weekend. Penn State remains undefeated in conference place at 6-0 and owns a 12-1 overall record.

Goas started all six sets at setter, averaging 11.17 assists per set and guiding Penn State to a .389 hitting percentage for the weekend. In addition, three of his primary hitters had hitting percentages of .364 or higher. Against Princeton, Goas dished out 37 assists as Penn State hit .462. He led the team with three aces and tied for first on the team with five digs. Against George Mason, Goas paced the offense with 30 assists as the Lions hit .316. He also had a team-high nine digs and added an ace and two blocks.

Penn State is back in action on Saturday, March 3 at 7 p.m. The Nittany Lions are scheduled to face Ohio State at home in Rec Hall.
