CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney William A. Shaw Jr. has announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.
Shaw identified the fugitive as Chris John O’Connor, 52, of North Church Street, DuBois. O’Connor was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Oct. 24, 2011.
On July 6, 2011, Officer Shawn Fye of the Lawrence Township Police Department filed a criminal complaint, charging O’Connor with driving under the influence, M; driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked; careless driving; driving on right side of roadway; and driving on roadways laned for traffic.
An affidavit of probable cause filed by Fye states that on May 20, 2011 the Lawrence Township Police Department was dispatched to a single-vehicle accident on Park Avenue Extension. Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, Fye detected signs of impairment and requested that O’Connor perform field sobriety tests. After administering the field sobriety tests, O’Connor was transported to the Clearfield Hospital for blood testing.
A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Aug. 31, 2011 at which time O’Connor failed to appear and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Also, on Sept. 28, 2011, O’Connor failed to appear for arraignment court and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Shaw reported that on Feb. 23, O’Connor was located and apprehended in Erie County. O’Connor is currently lodged in the Erie County Jail pending transfer to Clearfield County. Shaw thanked the Erie County law enforcement authorities for their assistance with this case.
