CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Economic Development Corporation (CCEDC) reported, during the most recent CCEDC Board meeting, the status of Forum Energy Technologies manufacturing facility in to the former Marathon Equipment facility in Clearfield Fireman’s Commerce Park.

It has been nearly 12 months since Forum Energy first announced its plan to expand their manufacturing operations of custom equipment to better serve the Gas and Oil Industries in North America. “Forum Energy Technologies is proud to be expanding its presence in Central Pennsylvania in the heart of the Marcellus and Utica Region by announcing the opening of its newest manufacturing facility in North America,” stated Forum’s Plant Manager, David Schultz. “The facility has been transformed into a state of the art production facility to support Forum’s increased demand for customized gas production equipment serving not only the Marcellus and Utica shale activity, but to support and enhance our production services in other shale deposits in the Texas and the Midwest,” stated Schultz.

The new plant has created 54 full time jobs to date and expects to hire up to 35 additional workers by this May. Rob Swales, CEO, CCEDC expressed, “This site was extremely advantageous in Forum’s site selection search. It was critical to Forum to have a presence in proximity to Interstate 80 in a plant that could quickly be placed into production to meet nationwide demand for oil and gas production equipment. Knowing the solid work ethic Marathon Equipment experienced at the site was an added bonus.Forum currently has 23 former Marathon workers on staff.”

Despite the decline in natural gas prices, Forum continues to produce a multitude of oil and gas processing equipment to serve not only the Marcellus and Utica Shale deposits, but also serving massive shale deposits in the Midwest and Southern United States such as the Eagle Ford, Barnett and Bakken regions.

The 95,000 square foot, 19 acre site easily accommodates expansion opportunities and Forum projects to employ up to 120 full time workers by yearend. Schultz expressed, “we are actively hiring qualified personnel in the fields of welding, assembly, painting and quality control to continue adding to our local workforce.”

With over 3,200 employees, Forum has quickly become a leader and worldwide provider of mission-critical products and services in today’s global energy industry drilling, production and infrastructure segments.
