She was born on Dec. 21, 1916 in Carnwath, a daughter of the late Homer E. and Lola (Ogden) Howell, Sr.
Mrs. Borger served her country by working at the Kaiser Ship Yard in Vancouver, WA during World War II. She was also employed as a production worker at the Curwensville Hosiery Mill, was a manager of Long’s Dairy & Bakery and also a clerk at the Clover Farm Store, all of Curwensville. Aside from all of her employment, she was a homemaker and enjoyed raising her family.
She was a member of the O’Shanter-Bloomington Methodist Church and a member of the Patriotic Order of Americans and the former Pocahontas Lodge #227, Curwensville.
She is survived by two sons:
Dr. Ronald K. Borger and wife Paulette of Huntingdon
Dennis E. Borger of Curwensville
Three grandchildren, five great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren;
And many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Borger was the last surviving member of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth F. Borger on Feb. 27, 1990 and whom she married March 2, 1935; six brothers Arthur, Harry, William, Homer, Jr., Norman and Blair Howell; and three sisters Edith Marshall, Ruth Bortot and Margaret Rowles.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Wednesday at 1 p.m. with Gary Jewart officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the hour of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to O’Shanter-Bloomington United Methodist Church, PO Box 17, New Millport, PA 16861.
