UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Junior Sharaya Musser (Colorado Springs, Colo.) has been named Big Ten Gymnast of the Week, conference officials announced Monday (Feb. 6). This is Musser’s third award of the season and the eighth of her career.
Musser led the No. 10 Nittany Lions to a 195.800-195.150 victory at Big Ten foe Iowa on Friday, Feb. 3. Musser brought home three individual event titles, as well as her fifth all-around crown of the season. Musser scored a 9.900 or better on three events, including posting a 9.925 on both vault and beam to win the events. Musser also scored a 9.900 on floor for the title. On her way to a season-best 39.600 in the all-around, Musser also posted a 9.825 on bars for second place.
Penn State heads back on the road with a trip to N.C. State to take on the Wolfpack, as well as George Washington and William & Mary on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m. The Nittany Lions return home on Saturday, Feb. 18 to face SUNY-Brockport in a double-dual with the PSU men’s team at Rec Hall.
