Obituary Notice: Gertrude M. Quinn

Gertrude M. Quinn, 98, of Clearfield died Sunday at the Clearfield Hospital. She was born June 18, 1913, a daughter of the late Levis and Pearl (Shaw) Read.

Mrs. Quinn was employed by the former Brody’s Department Store from 1963 until 1976 as a sales clerk and a buyer for the sports department. Prior to that, she worked at the former Workman’s Overall Factory from 1934 until 1963.
She was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, and a 1932 graduate of Clearfield High School. She was a member of the Railroad Brethren Auxiliary, a past member of NON and a past member of the Clearfield Women’s Club, where she served as president.

She is survived by a son-in-law, David Gallaher of Clearfield, three grandsons, David Gallaher Jr. and his wife, Rhonda of Grampian, Dale Gallaher of Chelmsford, MA and Doug Gallaher and his wife, Teresa of Clearfield, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren, and a brother, Levis Read Jr. of Clearfield.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert N. Quinn on Jan. 5, 1984 and whom she married Feb. 16, 1935 in Clearfield; a daughter, Jacqueline Gallaher, a great-granddaughter; and a sister and brother, Lillian Shaffer and Ray W. Read.

A Memorial mass will be said at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received from 9:30 a.m. – 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Cancer Society, 26 South Second St., Clearfield, or to the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, PO Box 550, Clearfield.
