Emma Caroline Knittle, 83, of Ginter died Friday at the Clearfield Hospital with her daughter, Bonnie and grandson, Jason at her side.

Mrs. Knittle was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Robert Knittle Sr.; her parents, Edward and Emma Shoup; her sisters, Betty, Isabelle, Sarah, Kathryn and Pearl; and her brothers, Edward and Allen.

She is survived by her sister, Grace Kehley of Ringtown and her brother, Walter Shoup of Arlington, VA; children, Robert Knittle of Nitro, WV; Bonnie Baughman of Brisbin; and Amy Sievert of Findlay, OH; grandchildren, Jason Baughman of Brisbin; Michael Baughman of Lock Haven; Emma Sievert of Findlay; Renee Allenbaugh, M.D. of Brockway; Joshua Knittle of Pittsburgh; Stephanie Knittle of Morgantown, WV; and Nathan Knittle on active Naval duty based in Gulfport, MS; as well as great-grandchildren, Jacob and Hunter Allenbaugh of Brockway.

Mrs. Knittle’s life was her family, children and household.  Her love and support for her family, neighbors and close friends were second to none and will always be remembered by those who knew her.

Her real joy was found in the time she spent with her grandchildren who either close by or hours away, treasured the time they spent with their loving grandmother and always looked forward to the delicious meals that only she could prepare.  She lead a simple life, enjoying crocheting, baking, gardening and of course her animals. She had an appreciation for her neighbors and friends who she was blessed with were continually shown in her willingness to lend a helping hand in any time of need.

Friends will be received from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the Freeberg Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Pastor John Snyder officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Clearfield Hospital, Ridgeview Elder Care and to George Mosch, M.D. for her treatment and care.
