PENFIELD – Parker Dam State Park is looking for an experienced and knowledgeable apple tree pruner willing to volunteer some time to the park. Over the past several years the staff and volunteers have planted many apple trees throughout the park to provide apples for educational Apple Cidering programs in the autumn, as well as for wildlife habitat. Apple trees however, do need lots of care if they are to grow and produce well; and for apple trees, this is the time of year to be thinking about pruning. Any interested volunteer(s) should have knowledge of the methods and techniques of apple tree pruning and care, and be able to relate to the Volunteer Coordinator their experience with pruning apple trees. If interested in this volunteer opportunity, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator by phone at 814-765-0630, or by email at cahuber@pa.gov.
