Patricia S. Butler

Patricia S. Butler, 89 of Ridgeview Elder Care, Curwensville and formerly of Philipsburg, passed away on Jan. 11, 2012, at Ridgeview Elder Care, Curwensville.

Born Nov. 19, 1922 in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late Ralph & Alma (Hanley) Shaw.

On April 1, 1945 in Indiana, she wed Joseph A. Butler, who passed away Nov. 16, 2007.

She is survived by: daughter and son

Susan Maines and her husband Robert W.                 of Curwensville

Jane Holden, Leigh Twoey, Sylvia Maines, Emily Maines

Great-grandson:

Hayden McCartney

She was the last of her generation.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael Andrew Butler and sister Marjorie Bailey.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Philipsburg.

She was a member of the Altar Guild at the church and was the secretary for PASR (Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees).

She was a graduate of Roosevelt High School and the State Teachers College at Indiana (IUP), where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education.

She retired from the P-O School District where she taught 1st grade at North Lincoln Hill.  Prior to moving to Philipsburg, she taught 2nd grade at McKinley Elementary School in Altoona’s Greenwood section.

A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 4th St. Philipsburg, on Jan. 14, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. William R. Walker officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Saturday, Jan. 14 from 12-1 p.m.
