Fire Chief Presents Department Report at DuBois City Council

DUBOIS – DuBois Volunteer Fire Department’s Chief John Kelsey gave the 2011 report to the city council on Monday.

There were 333 calls total for the year. There were 28 rescue calls, 71 mutual aid, 31 hazardous investigations and 47 calls in the category other.  Other includes vehicles, outside fires and public services, according to the report.

There had been 22 structure fires in the city over the last year.  Kelsey’s report estimated the cost of structures and contents at $1.146 million.  He attributed most of this cost to the Good Friday fire on Beaver Drive.

“Overall an average year as far as calls go, we did have something significant.  It was a very safe year.  We went through the entire year without a single injury reported to compensation,” said Kelsey.

Kelsey unveiled to city council the latest fleet photo.  This was the first fleet photo taken since 1996.
