DUBOIS – DuBois City Council was approached by citizen Joe Mitchell about the number of sex offenders he stated he sees attending the DuBois Public Library.

“It just seems that there are a lot [of them] gathering up there, and it could create a dangerous situation,” said Mitchell to the council.

Mitchel told the council he had checked the records of two of the individuals he had seen at the library.  According to Mitchel the two, no names given, had records indicating they targeted teenagers.  He noted to the council that the library would be a good place to find teenagers.

His request was to have the convicted sex offenders first report to the library staff on duty.  He gave the council examples of similar laws from Florida.

Council member Jim Aughenbaugh was also sworn into the council again for his new term during the meeting.
