Harold K. Vanderburgh

Harold K. Vanderburgh, 76, of Curwensville, PA died Dec. 27, 2011 with his family by his side. The son of James and Edith (Oswalt) Vanderburgh, he was born on Jan. 16, 1935, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was the remaining survivor of three siblings, James, Henry and Mary Vanderburgh. He graduated from Hartford High School in 1953 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Air Force. While serving his country for 21 years, Harold became a small arms marksman, earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Early in his military career, he married Agnes Shaw whom he adored for more than 54 years. Along their many travels, Harold became the father of four children. He is survived by his wife, his children and their spouses: Terri Brown, Kelly and Diane Vanderburgh, Todd and Kristie Vanderburgh, Barry and Jennifer Threats, and his nine grandchildren, Zach, Cody and Drew Brown; Maverick, Shannan and Megan Vanderburgh; and Aryelle, Barry and Kacey Threats.

After retiring from the Air Force, Harold and Aggie moved to Clearfield, PA to be near her family. Harold was then employed by the United States Postal Service in Philipsburg, PA for more than 15 years. He was an avid and accomplished golfer and a member of Grandview Golf Course for many years where he enjoyed many friendships. When he wasn’t playing golf, he was watching it on television. Harold also enjoyed spending time with his extended family, watching old movies, playing games on the computer, listening to the radio and was a card shark.

Services for Harold will be held on Dec. 30 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. in Clearfield followed by his burial at Eden Cemetery in Goshen township. Condolences may be sent to 207 Michlin Avenue, Curwensville, PA 16833.
