Cecil E. ‘Cec’ Morris

Cecil E. ‘Cec’ Morris,  90 of Woodland died on Dec. 24, 2011 at his residence. 

He was born on Dec. 1, 1921 in Bigler, a son of the late John and Sarah (Greene) Morris. 

Mr. Morris retired from Bradford Coal Co. in 1986 after 47 years of employment.  Up until his death, he personally assisted Ray S. Walker for 72 years. 

In 2001, Mr. Morris retired as elected auditor of Bradford Township after 34 years of service.

Mr. Morris served during WW II with the 94th Infantry Division in Europe having earned the Combat Infantry Badge and the Bronze Star Medal with an Oak Leaf Cluster.

He was a member of the Lake Street United Methodist Church, Woodland and the BJW Fire Co. Also, he served as scoutmaster of Troop #20 of Bigler.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy J. Young Morris, whom he wed Feb. 10, 1995,

Twenty-one great-grandchildren,

And several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Jean M. (McQuown) Morris on June 9, 1990 and whom he wed June 1, 1944; two children, Benjamin and Karen Lee; three granddaughters, Lisa Kay Morris, Shelly Lee Morris and Brenda Lee Morris Schultz; a great granddaughter Chelsea; and a brother Clair D. Morris. 

Funeral services will be held at the Lake Street United Methodist Church, Woodland on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Sean Patrick Smith and Rev. Thomas A. Young officiating.  Interment will follow in the Bigler Cemetery, Bigler. 

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts’ Honor Guard. 

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday from 1-4 & 6-8 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10-11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Lake Street United Methodist Church, 115 Lake Street, Woodland, PA 16881.
