No injuries were reported following a two-vehicle accident at 8 p.m. Thursday along the Bennetts Valley Highway in Jay Township, Elk County. A 49-year-old McClellandtown man was traveling southbound, while a vehicle driven by Lisa A. Barackman, 41, of Weedville was traveling north.
The man negotiated a right-hand curve and drifted into the northbound lane. Barackman observed that the man’s vehicle was heading directly at her own. While his vehicle continued in her direction, she swerved left into the southbound lane.
As her vehicle traveled by, the man realized he wasn’t in the correct lane. He steered his vehicle back into the southbound lane at which time it struck the Barackman vehicle. His vehicle continued south and came to a rest on its wheels along the western berm.
The Barackman vehicle continued north while rotating 108 degrees, coming to a rest along the western berm. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage. All occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.
The man was charged with careless driving.
