Cherry Hears Motion in Child Abuse Case

CLEARFIELD – On Tuesday the Honorable Judge Paul E. Cherry heard a motion for bail reduction from a DuBois resident accused of abusing his child.

Jeremy A. May is accused of unlawful restraint/serious bodily injury, unlawful restraint/involuntary servitude, endangering the welfare of children, and related charges.

At a preliminary hearing earlier this month, the child’s grandmother testified that May texted her images of his daughter bound, wrist to ankle, with a towel over her face. She stated that with the photos May texted the phrase, “This works when they won’t listen,” as well as, “This does too.”

May’s attorney the images were sent as a joke, “A joke that went out of hand.”

First Assistant District Attorney Trudie Lumadue stated that the commonwealth was opposed to a change in bail.

Cherry agreed with the commonwealth, and denied the motion.
