CNB Bank’s Casual for a Cause Raises Over $4k

CLEARFIELD – CNB Bank employees were permitted to dress casually on five different occasions throughout the year in exchange for a donation to a specified charitable organization.  In doing so, CNB employees raised over $4,000 this year, which was donated to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation, American Cancer Society, Children’s Miracle Network, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and Autism Society, respectively.

The kick off in 2011 was held on February 4, 2011 to benefit the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation and was appropriately named “Football Day”.  Employees were able to show their spirit by wearing their favorite football team’s jersey and other apparel.  On May 20, 2011, “Paint Your Town Purple Day” was held in conjunction with the American Cancer Society’s awareness campaign for their annual Relay for Life and the donations raised by employees benefited the American Cancer Society.  “USA Day” was held on July 1, 2011 and donations benefited the Children’s Miracle Network.  September 9, 2011 employees once again showed their patriotic side by wearing red, white and blue to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. And most recently, November 4, 2011, was designated as “Harvest Day” and the staff wore flannel and autumn colors to benefit the Autism Society.

“Casual for a Cause was originated by the Human Resources department of CNB Bank in 2009 and with this initiative, the employees have donated over $9,000 to various organizations to date”, stated Joseph B. Bower, Jr., president and CEO of CNB Bank.  Mr. Bower went on to say, “This year the bank donated an extra $200 to the charity on behalf of the employee group who best portrayed the spirit of the theme.  Because of this, and the generosity of our employees, 2011 donations nearly doubled the initial year’s donations in 2009.”

Due to the continued positive response, Mary Ann Conaway, vice president of Human Resources, recently announced that CNB Bank employees will be participating in five similar Casual for a Cause events in 2012, to benefit the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Disabled American Veterans, and the Salvation Army.

Conaway said, “We look forward to Casual for a Cause Days each year, as it is a wonderful way to assist charities in providing funds and services to those in need.  Casual for a Cause has been a big hit for everyone involved, the employees and organizations alike.”
