Multiple People Injured in Three-Vehicle Accident

CURWENSVILLE – Multiple people were injured in a three-vehicle accident in Curwensville Borough on Wednesday afternoon.

According to the state police in Clearfield, the accident occurred around 5:15 p.m. on state Route 879. A 54-year-old Clearfield woman was traveling east; vehicles driven by Ronald Canaway and Alycia Aughenbaugh, both of Curwensville, were traveling west. Police said the Clearfield woman appeared to cross over the center line and struck both vehicles head-on.

The Clearfield woman suffered moderate injuries. A passenger in Ronald Canaway’s vehicle, Gail E. Canawa, suffered moderate injuries. Alycia Aughenbaugh also suffered moderate injuries. All three were flown to Altoon Regional for treatment.

Ronald Canaway suffered moderate injuries. David K. Snyder of DuBois, a passenger in Aughenbaugh’s vehicle, suffered minor injuries. They were taken to Clearfield Hospital for treatment.

Police indicated the Clearfield woman was the only one not wearing a seat belt.

The Clearfield woman was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Charges are pending BAC results.

Police were assisted at the scene by Clearfield and Curwensville Emergency Medical Services, and Curwensville Fire Company.
