George Goffe “Jordy” Squiers, 87, of Grampian died Friday at the Clearfield Hospital after a lengthy illness.
Born April 21, 1924 in Bloom Township, he was the son of George G. Sr. and Lois G. (Fegley) Squiers. Mr. Squiers was a farmer for 15 years and had retired from the Clearfield Cheese Company in Curwensville after 25 years of service.
Mr. Squiers was a U. S. Naval veteran of World War II nd had been stationed in Oklahoma, Philadelphia, California and Nordic Island and was discharged in Bainbridge, MD. He was an aircraft mechanic on an aircraft carrier. He loved to fish, hunt and visit camp.
He was a graduate of the Clearfield Area High School.
On June 28, 1950, he wed the former Kathryn Price, who survives along with two sons, Robert Squiers and Timothy Squiers, both of Grampian and a grandson, Devin Squiers of Grampian.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Mr. Squiers will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Chester C. Chidboy Funeral Home Inc. in Curwensville, with the Rev. Emmett Anderson Officiating. Interment will be in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.
Friends will be received from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and from 12 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday.
The family suggests contributions be made to either to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Sixth Street Grampian, PA 16838, or to the Susquehanna Community Church 503 Filbert St., Curwensville, PA 16833.
