James H. Gillingham Sr. 76 of Clearfield died on Friday at the Clearfield Hospital. He was born Aug. 24, 1935, a son of the late Joseph and Nellie (Shirey) Gillingham.
Mr. Gillingham was employed as a mechanic for the Clearfield Borough for 40 years. After he retired, he enjoyed being the ‘meter man’ for Clearfield Borough and Park and Shop.
He was Apostolic by faith and will be sadly missed by all family and friends.
Mr. Gillingham is survived by his wife, Helen L. (Cassick) Gillingham, whom he wed Oct. 1, 1956 in Clearfield; a son, James H. Gillingham Jr. and his wife, Dora Raye of Clearfield; two grandchildren, Jamie Rudy and her husband, Jason and Dustin Gillingham and his companion, Kristin Kozykowski; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Madeline Rudy; and two sisters and a brother, Patricia of Erie, Shirley Maye of Knox and Don Gillingham and his wife, Betty of Clearfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Marie Gillingham; two sisters, Violet Gisewhite and Betty Conway; and four brothers, Homer, Ben, Joseph and Richard Gillingham.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield with Pastor Thomas Holt officiating. Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to James and Dora Raye Gillingham Jr., 433 Ogden Ave., Clearfield.
