Other Business at Sandy Supers Meeting

DUBOIS- Several matters were discussed at the Sandy Township Supervisors meeting Monday night.

Rebecca McTavish, director of the DuBois Public Library, gave a quick report on the status of the library.  The report used figures from 2010.  McTavish reported that in 2010 the library received $6.85 per person, but was able to provide $87.37 per person back to the community through various programs.

Programs and services included book purchases, classes/programs, computer/Internet Access, audio books, DVDs, informational requests and an ebook download program for iPads, Kindles, Nooks and other ereader devices.

Township Manager Dick Castonguay gave an update on the Census review.  The township had been waiting for leaves to start falling off trees to have better views of properties for the township’s recount.  The township has also received information on the census’ blocks of properties to allow a better comparison.

According to Castonguay, the Census appears to have missed 300-400 homes when comparing housing figures from the last Census with township records of new homes constructed and homes destroyed over the last decade.

Of the new Kiwanis Trail water system 127 connections have been made so far.  The customers are using the expected 100 gallons per household.
