Larry W. Fletcher, 72, of DuBois, PA passed away on Dec. 3, 2011 at his home. He was born on June 19, 1939 to the late Marl L. and Lenora M. (Koozer) Fletcher. In 1964, he married Dorothy (Greslick) Fletcher who survives in DuBois.
Larry grew up in Goshen, Pa and Clearfield, PA and in 1957 graduated from Clearfield Area High School. In 1961, he graduated from the Indiana Institute of Technology with a Civil Engineering degree. Larry served as an MP with the U.S. Army and was Methodist by faith. He was employed for more than 38 years, having worked for Gwin Engineering, Altoona, PA, John F. Casey Company, Pittsburgh, PA and retiring as an Area Superintendent with HRI, Inc., State College, PA. Larry was a lifetime member of the BPOE Clearfield Lodge #540.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Sheri Witter and her husband, Craig, of State College, PA; a son, Sean Fletcher of Vail, CO; two brothers; DeWayne M. Fletcher and his wife Patricia, Jerry L. Fetcher and his wife Peggy both of Clearfield; and three grandchildren, Fletcher, Tanner, and Casey Witter, of State College, PA.
Larry truly loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and trapping his prized bobcat. He loved sharing stories with family and friends about experiences in the woods. Larry will be greatly missed and will remain in our hearts forever.
There will be a private family service. A Celebration of Life for Larry will be held a later date for family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry’s memory to the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute (UOCI), Merkel Cell Carcinoma Research, UPMC Cancer Pavilion Suite 1B, 5150 Center Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
