Campus basketball home for the weekend; ranked eighth in national poll

After the Thanksgiving break, Penn State New Kensington men’s basketball team resumes its longest homestand of the season at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, against Penn State Wilkes-Barre in the Athletics Center. The conference inter-divisional schedule continues at noon on Saturday, Dec. 3, versus Penn State Worthington Scranton.

Coach Doug Schneider’s team is ranked eighth nationally in the season’s first poll by the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. Penn State Wilkes-Barre is ranked 10th. The New Kensington Lions last cracked the top 10 in the USCAA-Division II in 2008 when they held the top spot for six weeks. Assistant coach R.J. Hurt was a member of the team that went undefeated in the conference during the regular season. New Kensington is in the West division of the Penn State University Athletic Conference. Wilkes-Barre and Scranton are in the North division.

Coach Doug Schneider’s New Kensington Lions are 1-0 in the PSUAC (prior to the Nov. 30 match with Penn State Greater Allegheny) and 2-2 overall.
