Local Business Take Part in Elf on the Shelf

CLEARFIELD – Elf on the Shelf will run the four weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas at local businesses in Clearfield and Curwensville to bring the Christmas spirit, shop at local businesses and allow participants to enter into a drawing for a grand prize basket.

Elf on the Shelf is a Christmas elf that provides families with a way to celebrate the holiday by making the most of a child’s sense of wonder. During the holiday season, Santa sends a scout elf to each home to watch over the children’s behavior. The elf reports back to Santa daily with who has been naughty or nice. Finding the elf each day in a new location of their home (or in this case throughout town) is a part of the excitement for the children and families.

Beginning on Nov. 25, each local business registered will host the elf and the story of the elf for one week. When people of the community come into the business, they will have the opportunity to register for the grand prize basket, as well as to shop or browse the store/restaurant. The grand prize basket is made up of donations from the businesses hosting the elf, worth approximately $600. Each participant is only allowed to register one time at each participating location.

“Elf on the Shelf encourages people in the community to shop local and promote these local businesses,” said Executive Director of the Clearfield Chamber of Commerce Holly Bloom.

“This provides something for everyone,” Bloom explained. There are a variety of businesses from Bobs Army and Navy, Fun Central and Silverscreen Video, that there is something for everyone in the family to enjoy in the grand prize basket, Bloom added.

“This is great Chamber member benefit to get people to come to their businesses,” Bloom said.

Elf on the Shelf ends on Thursday, December 22, and the winner of the grand prize basket will be chosen that day and winner will be notified just in time for the holidays.
