Obituary Notice: Charles Wray Delp

Charles Wray Delp, 92 of DuBois died Sunday at the DuBois Regional Medical Center. He was born on Dec. 13, 1918 in DuBois and was the son of the late Charles H. and Ethel E. (Dobbs) Delp.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp.  He served as a sergeant during World War II and was awarded two Bronze Stars.

He retired from Beaver Meadow Creamery as an electrician after many years of service.  Prior to that, he had worked at the DuBois Brewing Company.

He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher for many years.  He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Ruptured Ducks.

On May 3, 1947 at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, he married Sarah C. Zdroski. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2011.

He is survived by his children, Charles Delp and his wife, Sue of Hermitage and Linda Weaver and her husband, Tom of DuBois; six grandchildren, Jayne Hershberger, Shari Gordon, Sahlee Jean Volosky, Nicholas Delp, Christopher Delp and Megan Delp; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his three brothers, Bill Delp, John Delp and Paul Delp and one sister, Ruth Delp.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.

A Scriptural Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church with Fr. David Foradori as celebrant.

Full military honors will be accorded by the DuBois Area Honor Guard from the church.

Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
