CLEARFIELD – The Clearfield County Commissioners approved paying James Schuckers of Clearfield a $20 per hour sub-contract fee for assisting in the transition occurring in the Veterans Affairs office at Tuesday’s regular meeting.
Earlier this month, the commissioners announced that Schuckers will fill in at the county’s Veterans Affairs office a couple days a week. He’ll work as an independent contractor.
Commissioner Mark B. McCracken said that Schuckers previously served as the county’s Veterans Affairs director in the early to mid-1990’s and was in that capacity for approximately four years, according to a previous GantDaily.com report.
Additionally, Commissioner Chairperson Joan Robinson-McMillen reminded that the Centre County Veterans Affairs office will also be assisting Clearfield veterans once a month out of their office.
She said the commissioners are currently accepting applications for someone to permanently fill the position through this Friday, Nov. 18. Any interested person should submit their application online or mail it to the county’s administrative offices and include their DD214 discharge paperwork.
Former director Dominick Kurtz stepped down as the head of the Veterans Affairs office in late October. Robinson-McMillen said then that he’d resigned for “personal reasons.”
