Sandy Township Unveils 2012 Budget

DUBOIS – Sandy Township released it’s proposed 2012 budget at the Monday night meeting.  Public display will begin on Nov. 8 with final adoption planned for December 5.  The budget as currently proposed includes a 1 mill increase.

The proposed total millage for Sandy Township in 2012 is 16.00 mills.  Fire protection is remaining at 2.50 mills.  The public library is remaining at .50 mills.  The increase is in the general fund, which will now be 13.00 mills.

The total budget for 2012 is lower than 2011 at $8,813,841 compared to 2011’s $11,493,111 overall when adding the township and municipal authority together.  Liquid fuels sees an increase of $800 thousand.  The general fund is increasing $300 thousand.  This is a total increase of $1,165,885.

The drop is from the Sandy Township Municipal Authority’s budget.  The sewer budget drops $4,000.  The water budget drops from $4,913,500 to $1,072,348.
