CLEARFIELD – A man accused of assaulting another man with a baseball bat waived his right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.
Michael Bloom Sr. faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, two counts of recklessly endangering another person, two counts of simple assault and two counts of harassment.
According to court records, on Oct. 23 police were dispatched to for an assault with a baseball bat. While spoke with the alleged victim, it was noticed that his fight knee was red/purplish and swollen. He told police that a woman had invited him and others to her place. While there, he told police that Bloom came in then left. He said Bloom returned with a baseball bat, yelling at the woman and her friends, telling them to get out. He reportedly told them not to come back. One person said, “We won’t”, and the alleged victim told police he said, “I know.”
He told police that after he said this, Bloom came running over and accused him of talking trash. He said Bloom then hit his knee with the bat. The alleged victim said Bloom threatened another man, but that man grabbed an ax and started toward Bloom. He said at that point, Bloom took off running.
Bloom is currently in Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail.
