CLEARFIELD – In a phone interview Friday afternoon, Commissioner Chairperson Joan Robinson-McMillen confirmed that Veterans Affairs Director Dominick Kurtz has stepped down.

She said as of Wednesday, Kurtz had resigned for  “personal reasons.” She said that at the present time, the Centre County Veterans Affairs office will be assisting Clearfield veterans once a month.

“Our (Clearfield) office will remain open, and the commissioners’ office is always open as well,” Robinson-McMillen said. She said they’re currently in the process of finding someone to fill in two days a week until the position is permanently filled.

She said in mid-November, the commissioners will begin attempting to fill the position. Any interested person can either apply online or mail their application to the county’s administrative office.
