Obituary Notice: Orpha B. Osman

Orpha B. Osman, 79, of DuBois died Monday at her residence. She was born March 29, 1932 as the daughter of the late William M. and Martha (Dungey) Thomas.

She retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, Clearfield, after many years of service.  Along with her husband, she was the owner/operator of Osman’s Pizza on Dixon Avenue, DuBois.

Mrs. Osman was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church, DuBois, where she served as a deacon. She was past president and member of the Berean Society, a member of A.A.R.P. and the L.I.F.T. Widow’s Group. She enjoyed reading and playing the piano.  She played the piano for 70 years.

She was married to Albert W. Osman, who preceded her in death on Oct. 5, 1976.

She is survived by her children, Margaret “Peggy” Elliott of Ashland, OR; Linda Rusonis and her husband, Marty of Piedmont, SC; Albert “Bill” Osman and his wife, Joleen of Anderson, SC; and John Osman of DuBois; a sister, Betty J. Scarsella of DuBois; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters, Alice Williams and Martha Miller and one brother, Don Houser.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home, DuBois.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the First United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Sarah E. Ott officiating. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.
