Margaretta M. (Reed) Swoope, 90, of Huntingdon, died Friday at the Huntingdon Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Huntingdon. She was born on Oct. 5, 1921 in Ramey.
Mrs. Swoope was a graduate of the Houtzdale High School. She was a homemaker and also worked for a time as a sales clerk for Macy’s in Oceanport, NJ. She was Presbyterian by faith.
She’s survived by two daughters and three sons, Marjon Bennett and her husband, Carlton of Oakhurst, NJ; Reed Swoope and his wife, Linda of James Creek; Robert Swoope and his wife, Dorothy of Milton, Australia; Martha Swoope of Jacksonville, FL and Jay Swoope and his wife, Susan of West Long Branch, NJ. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John “Jack” Swoope, who died on Dec. 29, 1980 and a son, Jon Patton Swoope, who died on Sept. 30, 2006.
Friends will be received from 10 – 11 a.m. Monday at the Madera Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Thomas A. McCoy officiating.
Graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
