Eileen F. Bell, 89, of Clearfield died Saturday at home.
She was born on July 3, 1922 in McKeesport, the daughter of the late Charles and Charlotte (Hays) Gilbert.
Mrs. Bell was a graduate of McKeesport High School in 1941 and worked for J.C. Penny Co. in McKeesport then Kaufman’s Department Store in Pittsburgh.
She was a member of West Side United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women’s of the church and Class 16 of the Sunday school. She participated in Bonnie Whaling Knitting Class and has donated many knitted items to the Salvation Army and the Clearfield Hospital Nursery.
She’s survived by three daughters, Karen O’Brien and her husband, John of Hanover, MD; Sandra Alt and her husband, Murray of DuBois; and Charlotte Kephart and her husband, Arthur of Woodland; a son, Tom Bell and his wife, Bernadette of Clearfield.
She is also survived by a brother, Charles Gilbert of Port Richey, FL; 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and another on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Rev. Chalmers R. Bell, a sister, Irene Case and great- granddaughter, Caitlyn Alt.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home Inc. with the Rev. Robert Croft officiating. Interment will be at Spring Valley.
Friends will be received from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. An additional hour of viewing will he held from 1 p.m. until the hour of services Wednesday.
