John A. Welder, 73, of DuBois died Sunday at the DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1939 in Stump Creek, he was the son of the late Joseph Welder and Helen Frantz.
Mr. Welder was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in Vietnam.
He worked at Riverside-Bi Lo in DuBois and the former Country Garden Market for many years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially liked to work on vehicles.
On July 6, 1968, he married Lillian (Tschopp) Welder. She survives.
He is survived by two sons, Jonathan J. Welder of DuBois and Corey J. Welder and his wife, Rebecca of Punxsutawney and two grandchildren.
Also surviving are three brothers, Robert Welder and his wife, Ordean of Luthersburg; George Frantz of Punxsutawney; and Joseph Freeman of Greenville; and three sisters, Ruth Smith, Sarah Bell and Fran Armagost, all of Punxsutawney.
Mr. Welder was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Emma Landsberry and two brothers, David and Thomas Welder.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goble-Baronick Funeral Home.
The DuBois Area Honor Guard will conduct a ritual service at 11:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Kevin Beard officiating.
Full military honors will be accorded from the funeral home by the members of the DuBois Area Honor Guard.
Burial will be in Lakelawn Memorial Park.
