CLEARFIELD – Lawrence Township was notified that it may have to pay around $6,600 towards the police pension this year.
Township Secretary/Treasurer Barbara Shaffner told the township supervisors present that the township will be receiving $158,488 towards the police pension. The minimum municipal obligation is the gap between what is due to the pension minus these funds.
According to Shaffner, most years the township has needed to pay nothing to a thousand dollars. This year the township was notified that the gap they will need to pay will be $6,600.
