Obituary Notice: Ann C. Forgatch Dotts

Ann C. Forgatch Dotts, Age 99, of Erie and formerly of Clearfield, passed away at UPMC Hamot in Erie, on Sept. 28, 2011, after a brief illness, with her devoted daughter and son-in-law at her side.

She was born on Dec. 20, 1911, in Madera, PA, daughter of the late John and Mary (Kafan) Forgatch.

Ann left home at an early age and worked as a waitress in Cleveland, Youngstown, Pittsburgh and Newark and returned to Madera after the death of her first husband. She lived in Clearfield for 53 years, and along with her husband Marl Dotts, owned the fourth Street Market, and later worked at Public Market, Leitzinger’s and S&H Green Stamp store. She moved to Erie in 2001 to be closer to her daughter, and lived at Parkside at Westminster and St. Mary’s at Asbury Ridge, where she received loving care.

She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and the Rosary and Altar Society, and volunteered at St Francis school cafeteria and Red Cross bloodmobile drives. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo, walking, reading, traveling ,knitting and spending time with her daughter. Ann always had a pretty smile for everyone.

Ann is survived by her daughter, Patricia Ann Tierney Nemenz and her husband Randall of Erie, her sister Margaret Stoker of Florida, and several nieces and nephews who loved “TanTan’s” chocolate chip cookies and the beautiful sweaters she knitted for them.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, John Tierney and Marl T. Dotts, by her brothers: Stanley (Ruth), Jack (Shiela), Steve (Jane), and Andy (Pat) Forgatch, and by sisters: Mary (Joe) Dudley, Helen (Vincent) Kivlen and Sue (Jerry) Kennedy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Oct. 1, 2011 at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield at noon with Msgr. Henry Krebs as celebrant. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.

Friends will be received on Oct. 1, 2011 at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc., Clearfield on Oct. 1 from 10:30 -11:30 a.m.
