Ruth E. Winters, 71, of Clearfield died on Thursday at her residence. She was born on Sept. 4, 1940 in Washington, D.C., a daughter of the late Ernest and Dorothy (Rest) Barefoot.
Mrs. Winters was a homemaker and drove school bus for Fullington Bus Co. for many years. She loved to gamble, whether it be playing bingo locally or traveling to the casino’s to play the slot machines.
She is survived by her husband, Greg E. Winters, whom she wed July 6, 1991 at their home.
Also surviving are seven children, Ernest Ricketts and his wife, Lisa; Michael Ricketts; and Jason Norris and his wife, Heather, all of Clearfield; David Ricketts and his wife, Corrina of and James Ricketts and his wife, Laurie, all of West Virginia; Becky Winters of Waynesboro and Gregory Winters Jr. of Irwin; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Chloee Norris, Jason Norris Jr. and Jacob Shaffer; and a brother, Robert Barefoot.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield with Pastor Kevin S. Bockus officiating. Interment will be in the Centre Cemetery, Hyde.
Friends will be received from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6 – 8 p.m. Monday and from 10 a.m. until the hour of services Tuesday at the funeral home.
