CLEARFIELD — Long-time Clearfield Bison baseball coach Sid Lansberry and his coaching staff held the 7th Annual Bison Baseball Alumni game on Saturday September 17.
55 former players returned to the field at the Lawrence Township Rec Park to support to “play ball!”
Saturday’s activities began with the “old-timers” Home Run Derby, which was won by Scott “D” Dunlap, class of ’81.
In the “old-timers” game, the Gray team prevailed 12-4 over the White team. Donnie Shimmel ’84, picked up the win, while Randy Ardery ’81 was saddled with the loss.
Special awards that were handed out after the game were rookies-of-the-year: Britt Reinke ’85 and Ardery; Gold Glove: Garry “Boats” Shirey ’76 and Ed Yeager ’75; and MVPs: Tom “Bump” Danver ’82 and Dunlap.
Next up was the “youngsters” Home Run Derby, which was won by Chris Peacock ’91.
In the offensive explosion that was the “youngsters” game, the White team outlasted the Gray team 15-7.
The winning pitcher was Trey Wallace ’07, while Todd Fedder ’91 was hung with the loss.
Special awards after that game were handed out to rookies-of-the-year: Jason Walker ’89 and Derek Danver ’11; Gold Glove: Brandon Billotte ’98 and Kevin “Stink” Lykens ’95; and MVPs: Fedder and Tim “Oz” Oswalt ’94.
The oldest alumni to participate in the games were Merrill Dunlap ’57 and Larry Davis ’58.
Emceeing the event was Pat “Planet P” Pallo ’86, while Logan Cramer III ’81 served as official photographer.
