CLEARFIELD – The community turned out in full to support Clearfield Hospital Hospice at their annual Chili Bowl.
The event was held at the Expo II building at the Clearfield Driving Park. This year’s theme was “Around the World.” Inside Expo II, people were eathing chili, dancing to the band or simply visiting with one another. The event had about 42 entries, featuring chili names such as Equator Chili, It’s a Small World Chili and Wild African Chili. The event also featured music from the band Live Bait.
Last year 289 patients and families benefited from the Chili Bowl fundraiser.
Proceeds benefit the Clearfield Hospice program by covering expenses that are not covered by insurance. Monies are used to help alleviate burdens from hospice patients and families in need who are facing end-of-life issues.
The fundraiser also supports the bereavement program and the grief camp for children and teens. This is a free service offered to anyone in the community who has suffered a loss.
Clearfield Hospice provides personal care and support for terminally ill persons and their families. It serves residents of Clearfield, Centre and Jefferson counties, as well as the bordering counties of Elk, Indiana, Cambria, Clinton and Blair.
