Plans Underway for Annual Anne S. Thacik Charity Auction

CLEARFIELD – The 2011 Auction Committee is collecting donations and sponsorships for the upcoming 16th Annual Anne S. Thacik Charity Auction. This year’s auction, featuring a western theme, will be held on Thursday evening, Oct. 6, at the Knights of Columbus in Clearfield, PA and promises to be a wonderful event you will not want to miss. 

The evening begins at 6:00 p.m. with a silent auction and various games of chance.  In addition to a 50/50 cash raffle, we are also conducting an “Experience of a Lifetime” raffle with the winner getting to choose one of four amazing vacations. The experiences include: (1) NASCAR Car Racing Experience: Classroom training for two and the ability to drive NASCAR cars on a professional track. Includes 4-night stay at select Hyatt properties in the US with round-trip airfare for two. (2) Sonoma VIP Wine Experience: Enjoy a three-night stay including breakfast at the Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa. Package includes a wine country chauffeured tour, wine tasting and food at two award-winning wineries, and round-trip airfare for two. (3) New York Amazing Long Weekend: Enjoy a three-night stay at the Hilton in New York City. Includes two Broadway show tickets, a three-course dinner for two at your choice of select New York City restaurants and round-trip airfare for two. (4) Sports Fan Getaway: Choose your favorite MLB, NBA, NFL, NHL, Golf or Non-BCS College Bowl Game. Enjoy two lower-level tickets to your choice of game, a two-night stay in deluxe accommodations with daily breakfast and round-trip airfare for two. Raffle tickets are available now and throughout auction night at a cost $5 each and can be purchased at the Agency or online at www.ccaaa.net.

The live auction begins at 7:30 p.m., with Bob E. Day as emcee, and local favorite, Pat Errigo, as auctioneer.  Wine and a variety of desserts will be available throughout the evening for your enjoyment.  More than 100 items are on the docket to be auctioned, including a three day/two night all-inclusive stay for two at the Flying E Ranch, featured in Cowboy & Indians magazine “Best Of The West 2011? Working Dude Ranches. Other items include get-away trips, fine restaurant packages, autographed items, event tickets, theme baskets, handwork, and much more. 

Admission tickets are $10 each, but special pricing is available for groups at 15 tickets for $100.  Funds raised will help support programs and services of the Area Agency on Aging.  Rikki Ross, Marketing & Events Coordinator for the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, Inc., described last year’s event as very successful and well attended.  “Our hopes remain high that previous donors and sponsors will be as generous this year, and that we can count on as lively an audience as we have enjoyed in the past.”
