Obituary Notice: Edwin R. Lanich

Edwin R. ‘Skip’ Lanich, 78 of Clearfield died on Sept. 13, 2011 at Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on Dec. 25, 1932 in Clearfield, a son of the late William C. and Nellie Mae (Smith) Lanich.

Mr. Lanich was employed for 20 years at Al Hamilton Coal Co. and also 33 years for the former Fred Diehl Motors.

He was a member of The Presbyterian Church, Clearfield, the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge # 540, Clearfield, the Free and Accepted Masons Clearfield Lodge #314 and a life member of the Clearfield Second Ward Fire Department.

Skip had a certain love for hunting and riding snowmobiles.  He also enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret D. (Dietzel) Lanich, whom he wed Feb. 13, 1960,

Three children:

      Alison LaFrance and husband Joseph                               Manheim

      David Lanich and wife Rose                                              Clearfield

      Martin Lanich and wife Jill                                               Slippery Rock

Two grandchildren:

      Madeline LaFrance and Jacob Lanich

Two sisters:

      Judy Gardner and husband Jack                                       Clearfield

      Joan Aveni and husband Jim                                             Clearfield

And several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Tom, Leo and Merle Lanich.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Rev. J. Robert Mellgard and Mr. Richard Barkley officiating.  Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 and on Saturday from 9-10 a.m.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to The Presbyterian Church, 119 North Second Street, Clearfield.
