DEP Extends Deadline for Advantage Grant Applications

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Camille “Bud” George, D-74 of Clearfield County, said the state Department of Environmental Protection’s Advantage Grant Program will continue accepting applications past its previously announced deadline.

“Eligible businesses can receive a 50 percent reimbursement grant for projects, up to $7,500 total,” George said.  “Projects must promote pollution prevention and energy efficiency and reduce costs by 25 percent and $1,000 annually.”

Applications will be accepted until Sept. 28 or until the limited funds are exhausted.  The application process contains several extensive components.  More information can be found on the DEP’s Web site and by clicking on the “Grants & Loans” tab.  Questions can be e-mailed to epadvantagegrant@state.pa.us.

George also encouraged volunteer fire and ambulance companies to apply for grants available through the Office of the State Fire Commissioner’s Volunteer Fire Company, Volunteer Ambulance Service Grant Program.

Eligible companies can use the funds for a variety of expenditures, including equipment, facility renovations and training.  The deadline to apply is 4 p.m. Oct. 21, and more information can be found at www.osfc.state.pa.us/.

Additionally, federal funds are available through the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s Assistance to Firefighters Grants program.  Applications are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 16, and more information can be found at www.fema.gov/firegrants/.

“I encourage our brave men and women who risk their lives daily to check if their companies may be eligible for funding,” George said.  “Time is running out to apply, and if we can better equip our heroes through available grants, we must act swiftly.”
