Fugitive Nancy Hockenberry in Custody After Surrendering

CLEARFIELD – Clearfield County District Attorney, William A. Shaw, Jr., announced the capture of a wanted fugitive.

Shaw identified the Fugitive as Nancy Ann Hockenberry, age 27, of Beccaria. 

Hockenberry was added to the Clearfield County Fugitive of the Week list on Sept. 6, 2011.

On Feb. 16 Trooper Kimberly Ronan of the Pennsylvania State Police, Clearfield Barracks, filed a Criminal Complaint charging Hockenberry with: 1) Theft By Unlawful Taking, F3; 2) Receiving Stolen Property, F3; and 3) Retail Theft, F3.

An affidavit of probable cause filed by Ronan states that in January 2011 the Pennsylvania State Police began an investigation into several employee thefts that had occurred at the Country Convenience Store in Morris Township. Upon investigation it was found that Hockenberry, while employed at the store, had stole approximately $2,254.00 worth of lottery tickets. It was also found that Hockenberry had cashed in several of the lottery tickets and received approximately $1,143.00.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for May 4, at which time Hockenberry failed to appear and a bench warrant was issued for her arrest. Also, on May 25, Hockenberry failed to appear for arraignment court and a bench was issued for her arrest.

Shaw stated that on Sept. 12, 2011, Hockenberry voluntarily surrendered herself to Deputies from the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office, and she was taken into custody.

Shaw thanked the Clearfield County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this case.
