Coquese’s Drive for Women’s Resource Center raises record $26,549

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — One hundred eighteen golfers hit the links at the Penn State Blue Course for the Fourth Annual Coquese’s Drive for the Women’s Resource Center, hosted by Lady Lion head coach Coquese Washington on Aug. 26. The event was capped off with the presentation of a check for a record $26,549.25 from Washington to Centre County Women’s Resource Center (CCWRC) director Anne Ard. The record-breaking day also featured a hole in one on #14 by Kim Filkins on her very first swing of the tournament.

The team of Greg Maffo, Mike Seidel, James Kohler and Thomas Deter won first place on in the open division with an 18-under par 53, while Alice Clark, Barbara Snow, Karen Taphorn and Kim Filkins claimed top prize in the women’s division with a 10-under par 62. Second place in the open division went to Jerry Fisher, Linda Haft, Al Lucas and Justin Ondik. Second place in the women’s division went to Jeanie Andrews, Karen Krupa, Sue Cromwell and Joan Ritchie. Greg Ferguson (#4), Curt Omiecinski (#8), Kim Filkins (#14) and Steve Moyer (#17) each won closest to the pin prizes, while Justin Ondik and Kris Petersen claimed the men’s and women’s longest drives, respectively.
